Cruise ship with passengers aground in Greenland fjord UPDATE refloated

Sep 14 2110 UTC UPDATE: Refloated at around 1115 UTC with the assistance of TARAJOQ, anchored near grounding site. No leaks, no water ingress reported. Understood the ship is waiting for Danish patrol ship, to undergo hull inspection.

Sep 13 1430 UTC UPDATE: Attempts to refloat by own means with high water failed, Danish Joint Arctic Command (JAC).sent a patrol ship, which is to arrive at site on Sep 15. Fishing support vessel TARAJOQ (IMO 9881225) and local work boats are trying to assist. No water ingress reported, so understood people and ship are safe. There are means nearby, to evacuate people in case of worst scenario.

Cruise ship OCEAN EXPLORER with 206 passengers and crew on board ran aground in Alpefjord, Northeast Greenland National Park, at around 1230 UTC Sep 11, while leaving fjord after tour. There’s no danger to passengers and the ship, no water ingress, no leak reported. Danish Navy ship or SAR ship under way to assist OCEAN EXPLORER, though it is believed she might refloat with high tide.
