Cargo ship aground on reef in marine reserve, Caribbean

General cargo ship HERCA-1 ran aground on Turneffe Atoll reefs, 8 nm due east of Belize City, Belize, Caribbean, at around 1000 UTC Mar 26, while en route from Honduras to Fort Lauderdale, USA. The ship reportedly suffered engine failure, she went NUC and ran aground. As of 0300 UTC Mar 28, remained aground. She’s to be detained after refloating until assessment of reef damages is completed. No leak reported so far, 13 crew remain on board.
