Offshore barge with 137 people on board adrift in cyclone UPDATE all personnel evacuated

May 18 UPDATE: All personnel on board of GAL CONSTRUCTOR were successfully evacuated with deployment of helicopters, all are safe.

May 18 UPDATE: GAL CONSTRUCTOR drifted aground near Satpati, Indian CG, Navy, and offshore tugs are trying to refloat barge, while simultaneously, evacuating people on board.

May 17: Offshore barge GAL CONSTRUCTOR with 137 people on board is adrift since morning May 17, in the midst of raging cyclone NW off Mumbai. Indian Navy ship INS KOLKATA has been dispatched to render assistance. Awaiting updates.
