Bulk carrier hard aground, Java sea

Bulk carrier EDELWEISS ran aground in southern Makassar Strait, Java sea, north of Masalima island, Indonesia, in the evening Dec 23, while en route from Taboneo, Kalimantan, to South Korea, with cargo of coal. As of Dec 30, the ship was still aground, salvage said to be under way, carried out by contracted salvage company.
Bulk carrier EDELWEISS, IMO 9283980, dwt 73624, built 2004, flag Cyprus, manager TRANSMED SHIPPING, Greece.
