Bulk carrier aground, Russia, Black sea, VIDEO

Bulk carrier RIO contacted Novorossiysk Port Authroties and requested tugs to avoid imminent grounding, at 0140 Moscow time Dec 12. At 0150 bulk carrier grounded on southern coast of Novorossiysk Bay, being impacted by strong wind and heavy sea. Tugs weren’t able to leave port because of stormy weather. Bulk carrier, which arrived from Turkey and is in ballast, remained aground, as of 1840 Moscow time, the ship was still aground, no visible hull damages, no leak reported. Crew remain on board, port tug TOROPLIVIY is on standby.
