Container ship contacted bottom, probably damaged, Iceland

Container ship VERA D contacted bottom near Akurey islet, at around1500 UTC Sep 10, while approaching destination port Reykjavík, en route from Rotterdam. The ship didn’t sail directly to Reykjavík harbor, she made a wide loop, but by 1730 safely berthed. Later Coast Guard spotted a thin oil film in the area outside harbor, suspecting VERA D as probable source of the leak. It is not yet confirmed or refuted, ship’s hull integrity is to be checked by divers.
