General cargo ship HAKSA issued distress signal at around 0200 UTC Jun 17, reporting water ingress in engine room, sinking, in Adriatic sea, some 40 nm off Sibenik, Croatia. The ship with 3000 tons of magnesium on board and 13 crew is en route from Izmit Turkey to Koper Slovenia. HAKSA didn’t sink, as of 1300 UTC she was afloat and probably, under tow, with two SAR ships at her side. Of 13 crew, 5 including Captain remain on board, in an attempt to salvage the ship, 8 were evacuated and already transferred to Split.
