Dutch freighter severely damaged in collision with bollard, Terneuzen

General cargo ship AVALON collided with bollard at around 1000 LT Mar 1 in Ghent – Terneuzen Canal near Terneuzen. The ship sustained serious damages, starboard hull suffered several meters length gash, see photos. AVALON was taken to nearest pier, understood ballast water was pumped out to increase freeboard and raise gash above water.
