Silversea’s Antarctic cruise interrupted or cancelled

Cruise ship SILVER CLOUD reportedly suffered engine failure caused by faulty pump on Nov 19, while en route to Antarctica, first trip after massive refitting, which was to convert her into polar cruise ship. The ship left Buenos Aires on Nov 16, she was off Puerto Madryn at the time of breakdown. Understood SILVER CLOUD managed to reach Muerto Madryn under own power, the trip probably cancelled. As of 0330 UTC Nov 23, she was still at Puerto Madryn. According to itinerary, the ship left Buenos Aires for a 16-day trip, including calls to the Falkland Islands, the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula. It is said, that there’s problem with repairs or replacing of faulty fuel pump.
