Tanker and bulk carrier collided off Singapore, oil leak

Product tanker and bulk carrier collided in the evening Aug 17, at around 2230 Malaysia time, 3.2 nm northeast of Tompok Utara Light, at Singapore Straits entrance, South China Sea. Tanker is en route from Qatar to Taiwan, bulk carrier is en route from Muara Berau Indonesia to Singapore. Both vessels sustained damages, oil leak reported, scale of leak and damages extent yet unknown. Both vessels were brought to anchor for investigation, owners have to deposit bail for vessels’ release. Clean up under way.

Bulk carrier SINICA GRAECA, IMO 9717486, dwt 63270, built 2015, flag Marshall Islands, manager ANGELAKOS HELLAS SA, Greece.
