NGI’s ferry carrying hazmat disabled by fire, Italy

/// Fire erupted in engine room of Italian NGI ferry BRIDGE in the afternoon July 11 some 4 nm east of Filicudi Island, northeast of Sicily. SAR boats were deployed, firefighting team boarded the ship, fire was extinguished. Vessel was disabled by fire, and had to be towed to Messina, arriving there in the morning July 12. Hazardous materials (nuclear substances mentioned) said to be transported on board, vessel was attended to in Messina with all necessary precautions. All photos full-scale:
